The Boston Red Sox will begin an interleague series against the Houston Astros starting July first away in Houston. Currently, Boston holds a 46-34 record and will look to take advantage of the struggling Astros this week after a tough series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Red Sox do have a far trip to take to meet up with the National League Houston team, which could make things somewhat more difficult. So far this season, Boston is 24-18 away from Fenway. The will start knuckleball pitcher Tim Wakefield who is 4-3 this season with a 4.54 ERA in those games.
The Astros will send Bud Norris to the mound to pitch for them in game one. He has a much better ERA then Wakefield, at 3.36, but has not gotten a lot of help from the offensive side of the ball and carries just a 4-6 record. That offensive lack of help, has led the Astros to just 29-53 this season with only 14 of those wins coming at home. That being said, home field advantage really has not existed in Houston. Hopefully the lack of production at home can lead to some Red Sox victories this week. The game is set to start at 8:05 PM ET.
